Dear rain,

I told God to put me in a cosy room and on a rainy day
To put a book in my hand
And watch me fall in love with life

Dear rain,
I begged heaven to let you pour water through the night
So my eyes don’t have to
.
Dear rain,
I told all who cared to listen:
You are unbeatable company
A friend that disturbs my solitude not with words
But with window knocking
And roof splattering
I am at work
And so is the universe
Fewer things make me feel less alone
